Laser Vein Therapy

Vein therapy for the face and body
You can make unsightly facial and leg veins a thing the past, thanks to laser vein therapy. With advanced technology, a unique design, and a longer wavelength, Cosmetic Solutions' Cutera CoolGlide can safely and effectively treat both tiny superficial face veins and deeper blue leg veins on men and women of all skin tones.

What is laser vein therapy?
Laser technology offers a very effective means of treating spider veins. The laser has a unique ability to selectively target blood vessels without adversely affecting surrounding tissue. The vessels are gently heated, causing the blood in the vessels to clot. The body reabsorbs the treated blood vessels during the natural healing process. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin's surface, where it should be.

Will laser therapy work on my veins?
The laser can treat spider veins, reticular veins (deeper blue veins) and facial veins. We complete a medical consultation to evaluate and assess your veins. Prior surgery or treatment on your veins could affect the treatment outcome.

What does it feel like?
Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation only when the laser pulse is delivered. The cold tip on the hand piece helps soothe the skin before and after the laser energy is delivered.

How long will the treatment take?
Treatment time should be 15 to 30 minutes but may vary depending on the number and size of the vessel(s) to be treated.

How many treatments will I need?
Depending upon the number, color and size of the veins being treated, you may require between one and three laser treatments, spaced two to three months apart. The treatment is performed on the existing blood vessels, diminishing or completely eliminating their appearance. However, any new developing veins cannot be prevented.

What happens to the skin after the treatment?
Clients may experience some temporary redness, swelling or bruising. This doesn't happen often, and is typically gone within a few hours. Others may experience changes in skin color, but these will disappear and return to normal over time. Since laser treatment does not burn or cut the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary.
We encourage you to wear compression hose during the day for up to three days following treatment. You will be given information on where to purchase these prior to your treatment.

When can I resume normal activities?
Although we encourage you to resume normal activities almost immediately, we do ask that you refrain from vigorous activities and exercise for at least 24 hours after the treatment. Avoid hot tubs and hot baths for at least two to three weeks after treatment.
Avoid direct sun exposure after treatment, but if it is necessary to be in the sun, protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 sun block (not sunscreen).
If treating facial veins, avoid any irritants to your skin for one week before and after treatment (products containing Retin-A, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids or astringents).

What about blood blisters and port wine stains?
Blood blisters or "hemangiomas" respond very well to CoolGlide Vein Therapy, usually with just one treatment. Patients with port wine stains and other vascular lesions who had given up on finding a solution have seen success with their CoolGlide vascular treatments. Schedule a consultation for a thorough evaluation.
